Got a nice little story here.

This is a quote from the 13 moon calendar website explaining what our sense of time has done for us. Centuries ago, our 12 month calendar was imposed on us by the Vatican so they could time their religious events with the changing seasons. It was a false time system, and has put us in a constant state of nervousness. Do the research for yourself, but I believe it contributes to our society of consumerism and the endless need to find peace from it.

“Since Gregorian-time currently synchronizes the planet through the global world of commerce and its commonly accepted notion that Time is Money, its no wonder that the sentiency of Nature has been denied, replaced by marketplace values. Both Time and the Biosphere have been compart-mentalized, quantified, and sold off in a self-consuming game of artificial worth. ” -Dr. Jose Arguelles

Consuming is bad.

How bad? Well, for one it grows you up to be nervous. Always not enough, always in need. Everything has to be right and it can only be if you have new jeans, more appliances, more containers for your accumulated piles of sooner or later trash. There is no end. What I want to do; give my things that are expendable to a free store, or sell them off at a swap meet. Ebay, Etsy. Or if it doesn’t freak your friends and family out too bad, give them your favorite things, pieces you can live without but would like to keep in the circle of you. Think of it like traveling. You have what you need, and you keep it light. This is what I’ve learned to be true detachment from the material world. Tho you’d have to watch what you bought and refrain from evil packaging trash but its doable. But who would do it with your house you can pile stacks up in, and why would you want to live with nothing? Because, every person that doesn’t care is greatly contributing to a crime against our home and the living things in it. Trash piles leak toxic chemicals into the ground until the neighborhood is sick. Everything is packaged to excess, and the cheap excuses we make for fast food containers take so long to break down they’ll outlive us. The blatant disregard is sickening and we should take a look at what we’ve grown into, that we would scoff at a carefree and uncluttered lifestyle let alone more sanitary and beautiful. Take a minute to go through your stuff. Make a pile for selling and a pile for giving away. Don’t go shopping ever without doing this. Food in your cupboard, closets, shoes, go through it all. If you don’t wear it or its not very practical for your life, send it off to someone who’ll like it. Let’s start a trend where all the best stuff is free because it circulates. We should never have to buy excessively again. Lets not be consumers, let’s be smart and use what we have and only take on what we need. Give me some feedback on this. I say; Travel Light.

In this site you will fin helpful ways to stop bad habits of accumulating garbage that you do not need. This is a blog about lessening the impact of your carbon footprint. What you will find out is that many companies don’t care about this planet and prove it to us by using packaging that is not biodegradable, so much of it that it dwarfs the products it came in. This is disgusting and has to stop. If you care about the people who will be here long after you(and you should) then this movement is for you. Please check back often as many ideas will be posted and events will begin to take place. Thank you for helping us be the change we need to see in our world. – Tara O’Shea Founder of Do Not Consume
